Gloria was born in La Puente, in northern New Mexico. Growing up, she was immersed in colonial Spanish language and culture of northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. She lived in Pueblo, Colorado and in La Puente. New Mexico.
Ella y su esposo, Jorge Mora, tienen 53 años de casaos. Tuvieron un hijo, Jorge, pero Nuestro Señor se lo llevó. Tienen dos hijas, Maria Isabel y Esmeralda, dos nietos, Niko y Antonio (Imani) y una bisnieta Marilena Rose.
